A Week of Review

This week we have been doing lots of reviewing in math. The skills we have reviewed have been:

Place Value: 

Using place value blocks to show a number

Writing a number in expanded form

Writing the value of a given digit in a number

Telling how many ones, tens, and hundreds a number has

Number Lines:

Filling in missing numbers

Creating number lines 

Finding the rule/what the number line is counting by

Temperature:

Reading a thermometer (remember that thermometers are like number lines!)

Problem solving:

We use a math strategy called QUEST to help us solve math word problems. 

Q-What is the QUESTION asking?

U-UNDERLINE or circle important information

E-cross out EXTRA information

S-use STRATEGIES (draw a picture, write a number sentence, chart or graph, etc)

T-THINK...does my answer make sense?

Money:

Using "hairs" and "sprouts" to count money

Counting money to a dollar

Writing a monetary value four different ways (in words, with a cent sign and two different ways with a solar sign and decimal)
