Math Fact Test

Yesterday I told the kids that we will not be doing timed test for math facts anymore. This does not mean we won't be practicing math facts. I will instill a strong number sense into your child so that when they have to recall facts, they can use strategies instead of just recalling a fact just because it's something they memorized. This way when we ask them why 4+6= 10 they will be able to explain it and also transfer that knowledge to problem solving and other things. This change is definitely for the better. I am still looking for a way to replace our fact wall with something that depicts how fluent we are in our facts. When I find out what that is, you will be the first to know.
