Wilkinson PRIDE Pledge and Core Essentials

Wilkinson P.R.I.D.E. and Core Essentials Our theme for guidance at Wilkinson Elementary is “Wilkinson Pride” and the program we have adopted is Core Essentials. At Wilkinson, we would like for all of our students to be members of the Wilkinson Pride. Each year we work work together to reinforce character values not only in the classroom but school wide and at home. About Core Essentials Core Essentials is a character education program, designed for grades K-5, that provides simple, straight-forward tools allowing schools to quickly incorporate character education into the curriculum.   The program provides a "value of the month" focus that encourages individual classrooms, the entire school, and every family to emphasize the same aspects of each value. Core Essentials is designed to synchronize the home and school by presenting values that we can both teach. Core Essentials believes that it takes an INWARD attitude to influence OUTWARD behavior. A value is an inward belief or attitude that affects someone's outward behavior. The values that Core Essentials emphasizes are common attitudes that every parent and teacher wants children to learn and demonstrate. Values affect behavior by helping you . . . ·treat others right ·make smart decisions ·maximize your potential   Throughout the month, teachers and administration will be rewarding students who demonstrate knowledge of the Value of the Month. Students will have the opportunity to receive a Value-able Card (a coupon for a free child's meal at Chick-fil-A) or to have their name submitted for the end the month drawing for a Chick-fil-A catered lunch. Attending the Chick-fil-A lunch is a big honor here at Wilkinson. If your child's name is drawn, they will be given an invitation to the Wilkinson P.R.I.D.E. Party. They will will receive a certificate, their very own medal, and have their picture taken. Pictures are displayed throughout the year in the cafeteria for students and parents to enjoy. Our values from year to year are always changing. Information about these values will be sent home in the monthly news letter and posted on my website.
