Today was applesauce day! And Mrs. Humphrey had to make the apple sauce TWO TIMES. Next year I'm going to need some volunteers to bring some apple peelers and help me out. Peeling and cutting 42 apples was HARD WORK!
First we lined up all the apples we needed for our applesauce. We made sure to wash each apple because apples grow outside on trees and are exposed to many germs.
All washed! This is also the crockpot we will be cooking it in. This is a picture to show how the apples barely fit in the pot. Which is why we need to cut them up….and peel them of course.
Look at all the peels. They are all different shades of red, yellow and green. Very symbolic of the skin of the students in our classroom. All the apples come in different shapes, sizes and colors just like us!
Next, we have to CUT, CUT, CUT!
This is a picture of my cool apple corer and slicer. Makes the job much easier.
Now, to add the other ingredients. We just need water, sugar, and a little cinnamon.
And cook! Cook it until all apples are soft.
