Our Christmas Tree!

Here is a picture of our Christmas tree I put up today.  The only ting it is missing are bulbs.  Please send one bulb with your child to be placed on our Christmas tree. All bulbs brought in will be returned to your child on December 16 before we leave for the winter break.  Thanks in advance!

Disguise a Turkey

These turkeys made it through the Thanksgiving holiday safely.  their disguises worked!  Thanks to all who participated in this take home project. Lots of teachers would come down the hallway hoping I put up new turkeys daily….it was so much fun to show these off

Update on Jack

Well, we were able to watch Jack for just two more weeks, but now he is gone!  I think maintenance thought he was getting a bit too “yucky” to keep in the garden.  Oh well….we did see some changes though!  Here are the pictures I have. You will notice the shape of his eyes and mouth have changed, and he is a lot more wrinkled.  He also has white and black mold inside of him. YUCK!

Computer Lab

We will start to visit the computer lab at least once or twice a month.  I have also opened the computer learning station in our classroom.  Students will be working on previously taught skills as well as working on fine motor skills.  You would be surprised how hard it is to get the mouse to where you want to click!  Lots of had eye coordination, and practice is needed.

Some of us are already experts.  Others need a bit of practice.  The website we usually visit is www.morestarfall.com. You have to have a membership to use MORE starfall, but you can access the regular www.starfall.com at home.

Author Nick Bruel Visits

How lucky are we!  The author of the book Bad Kitty came to visit us.  He read us three of his books, and also talked to us about being good writers. Here are two pictures from his visit.

Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veteran's day everyone! All this week, I was taking out stars that represented the veterans who are related to the students in our class. I would like to send a special thanks to all of you who served our country. I hope you enjoy this day. You have done so much for us and we are all thankful.

Making Applesauce

Today was applesauce day!  And Mrs. Humphrey had to make the apple sauce TWO TIMES.  Next year I'm going to need some volunteers to bring some apple peelers and help me out.  Peeling and cutting 42 apples was HARD WORK!

First we lined up all the apples we needed for our applesauce.  We made sure to wash each apple because apples grow outside on trees and are exposed to many germs.

308727_233963970003922_100001709634580_685515_345478392_n[1]

All washed!  This is also the crockpot we will be cooking it in.  This is a picture to show how the apples barely fit in the pot.  Which is why we need to cut them up….and peel them of course.

388529_233967136670272_100001709634580_685523_1643648105_n[1]

Look at all the peels.  They are all different shades of red, yellow and green.  Very symbolic of the skin of the students in our classroom.  All the apples come in different shapes, sizes and colors just like us!

Next, we have to CUT, CUT, CUT!

This is a picture of my cool apple corer and slicer.  Makes the job much easier.

Now, to add the other ingredients.  We just need water, sugar, and a little cinnamon.

319638_233966303337022_100001709634580_685521_1099107216_n[1]393620_233966770003642_100001709634580_685522_799486575_n[1]381874_233969296670056_100001709634580_685530_654823704_n[1]

And cook!  Cook it until all apples are soft.
