Fire Saftey Week

I'm a little late, but the week before last was FIRE SAFETY WEEK!  We did a lot of talking about what to do when there is a fire at home and at school.  We talked about dialing 911 in case of emergencies and we made our own firefighter hats.  To top it all off...at the end of the week, a fire fighter came with a fire truck!  We asked him many questions, and got to walk around and look inside of the truck.

Mr. Denis Lee

The morning class got the opportunity to see the talented ventriloquist, Mr. Denis Lee.  He talked about being positive and doing your best.  His show was called Banana Soup.  The following was taken from his website:

"BANANA SOUP" is my brand new show. It begins September 2012. "BANANA SOUP" is my secret recipe for good character and great choices. We will be teaching students the value of learning to listen to their parents and teachers... "LISTEN UP" The joy that comes from having a positive attitude and learning how to "LOOK UP".
We will also explore in our FUNKY MONKEY KITCHEN how to use our hands to help others in our community..."LIFT UP". With clear anti-bully, anti-drug, messages, "BANANA SOUP" promises to help your students grow, glow, and go!

How lucky are we!  The author of the book Bad Kitty came to visit us.  He read us three of his books, and also talked to us about being good writers. Here are two pictures from his visit.

Read For A Better Life

What a treat! To kick off CISD's Read For A Better Life, we got to listen to two stories read by Mrs. Bonnie Wilkinson herself! Yes....the Bonnie Wilkinson the school is named after.
