So Proud!

I am so very proud of the kids and their name writing.  EVERYONE has made lots of progress in writing their name.  I even have some kiddos writing their last names now! 

I am working in small groups with some who are still struggling.  There are a few with very weak pencil grip.  We have been doing exercises to strengthen our pencil grip if needs be.  One thing that we have done to help is to take a clothes pin and use it to pick up small items.

 

Those of us that just need a little more focus and practice with writing their name are also getting some one on one practice with me during literacy stations/centers.

If your child needs more practice with their first name, use a yellow marker and write their name.  Then have them use a pencil to trace over it.  Not ready for a pencil just yet?  Use something fatter like a crayon, or a marker,
