Today we had a Pumpkin Tasting Party! We were able to taste pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie from the store, homemade pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds from the store, and homemade roasted pumpkin seeds from our very own pumpkins.
I started them off with the pumpkin seeds. Lots of the students liked them and about 50 percent of them asked for more.
Then we talked about what you use to make pumpkin pie and bread. You have to use the pumpkin guts! So we tasted it. Plain ole pumpkin guts with no sugar added! To my surprise they enjoyed it. They all tried it too…no one refused. I only had one student who gagged over the stuff.
The homemade pumpkin pie was sooooo good. We even had regular and cinnamon cool whip to eat it with. Talk about a treat! I almost didn’t want to share the pie with the kiddos.
A parent in the afternoon class made it. It was probably the best pumpkin pie I have EVER tasted. If you ever need a pie or cake, definitely check her out. This is the business card she attached to the pie. YUMMY! She was also the one to make the pumpkin bread or us too.
